Description of institution

As a Public Centre of Excellence, «Hospices Civils de Lyon» make up the second-largest University Hospital Network in France. For over 200 years, as a network providing expertise in all disciplines – both medical and surgical – Hospices Civils de Lyon have offered a wide range of human, technical and logistical resources to ensure that they provide care, training, research, medical innovation as well as disease prevention and health education. HCL also make up a world-class network for the fight against cancer, and are ranked amongst the 25 best hospitals in the world.

The Department of Biostatistics in Hospices Civils de Lyon is expert in counselling in clinical trial analysis, epidemiology, and high-dimensional data analysis. It collaborates closely with the French UMR CNRS 5558 (Laboratoire de Biométrie et Biologie Evolutive) and conducts methodological research in Biostatistics, teaches, and supervises MSc and PhD students.  The department contributes to the publication of 40-50 scientific  articles per year and, together with UMR CNRS 5558, was rated A+ by the French Agence d’Evaluation de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur (AERES). It is currently involved in over 600 research projects, including over 60 clinical trials. It is partner in the WAKE-UP (FP7) and the RESSTORE (H2020) ongoing EC-funded projects for all tasks related to Biostatistics.

The Hospices Civils de Lyon is leader of WP5 Statistics.
